AI Search Optimization Services

The search landscape has drastically evolved in recent years. Having been in the SEO profession since 2009, I’ve been shocked by the rapid pace of AI adoption.

People are turning to platforms like ChatGPT and Perplexity for their answers, which is chipping away at the market share of traditional search engines like Google.

In turn, this has opened up a new and fast-growing traffic channel that all types of businesses and website owners need to be aware of. In addition to SEO, marketing efforts should include AI search optimization, which requires a different strategic approach to be successful.

What I Offer as an AI SEO Consultant

AI Search Optimization Citations in Ahref for Performance Tracking

Over the last few years, I’ve pivoted my craft as an AI SEO consultant and have helped several businesses and enterprises adapt their SEO efforts to AI search optimization. While many SEO principles still apply, there are certain novel strategies that move the needle.

Here’s what I bring to the table when we work together.

  • Visibility audit to assess how well your content currently appears (or doesn’t) in AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and other answer engines
  • Content strategy and restructuring to better align your pages with how AI systems source and surface answers
  • Targeted answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) strategies to shape AI search visibility
  • Entity and authority building to help your brand become a more trusted, citable source in your industry
  • AI-targeted content development that gets in front of conversational, question-based queries that drive AI search results
  • Ongoing optimization and reporting to track AI referral traffic and adapt strategies over time

As a well-versed content strategist, many projects involve both SEO and AI search optimization. The focus varies depending on your business and its objectives. But the underlying goal is always the same. I want your business to show up where your audience is actually searching, and that increasingly means AI platforms.

My AI SEO consulting work is rooted in many years of hands-on SEO leadership, giving me practical experience that many newer professionals lack. I’ve witnessed search evolve through every major algorithm shift, and this latest wave of AI-driven discovery has been the biggest disruptor yet.

Why Businesses Need AI SEO Right Now

Various suspended light bulbs representing new ideas for using AI for search engine optimization (SEO) and thinking outside the box

The shift toward AI search has gone from being a rising trend to a divergent behavior that’s here to stay. A recent study found that 37% of consumers already start their searches with AI instead of Google, and 59% believe AI will become their primary way of finding information.

Meanwhile, the most notable AI platform, ChatGPT from OpenAI, has grown by about 350% in the last 18 months, increasing its user base from 400 million weekly active users in early 2024 to over 900 million by February 2026.

The window for early adopters to gain a competitive advantage with AI search optimization remains wide open. The brands that position themselves for greater visibility and authority in AI’s answer engines now will benefit in the future.

Data backs this up, as brands cited in AI Overviews currently earn 35% more organic clicks than competitors who aren’t. And unlike SEO, websites don’t require established domain authority and substantial resources to contend for AI traffic.

AI search also attracts a different kind of user. These are people who want a direct, reliable answer, which means when your brand gets cited, you’re reaching someone already deep in the decision-making process.

McKinsey reports that half of consumers use AI-powered search today, and it projects that $750 billion in U.S. consumer spending will flow through AI-powered search by 2028, which signals just how much revenue will ultimately be influenced by who shows up in these answers.

Traditional search visibility and AI search visibility are becoming two separate things. From my perspective, leveraging both AI and SEO best practices can set you up for long-term success.

How to Approach AI Search Optimization vs. SEO

While search algorithms shift over time, traditional SEO has revolved around a common set of signals that search engines can crawl and index. These signals include keyword placement, domain authority, page speed performance, and backlinks, to name a few.

AI search engine optimization uses a fundamentally different set of variables to generate relevant responses for users. Generative AI systems synthesize information from across the web to produce original, tailored responses based on user prompts and questions, which means your content either gets absorbed into the answer or is not factored in at all.

How content is framed and structured is critical for success. Historically, SEO rewards pages that cover topics at great depth and are linked strategically throughout a site. AI search rewards content that is quotable, specific, and written with enough clarity that large language models (LLMs) can extract and reference it with confidence. Research from Princeton, Georgia Tech, and The Allen Institute found that adding authoritative citations, statistics, and quotable source references to content increased its visibility in generative AI responses by up to 40%.

AI search optimization is different in that it also includes brand entity recognition. Generative AI models look for associations, which means that the way your brand, products, or expertise are talked about and linked to on the web affects how AI models see and represent you. A strong web presence combined with consistent mentions in reputable publications and well-organized structured data all help in ways that a backlink profile alone can’t.

The measurement piece is also new territory compared to SEO standards. There have been platforms in place to quantitatively measure SEO performance for decades. AI search optimization requires keeping an eye on how generative platforms talk about your business, tracking brand mentions in AI-generated responses, and verifying that the information being surfaced is accurate and positive. It’s a more qualitative field, and brands that invest in real authority are rewarded more than those that try to take shortcuts through algorithms.
