Freelance PPC Consultant
Before I started working as a freelance PPC consultant, I managed Google Ads accounts for various clients in the agency environment.
The major stepping stone was in 2011, when I worked as an Internet marketing manager for a fully remote web design company based in Illinois. It was a head-first immersion into the world of search engine marketing beyond my current SEO experience, and I am grateful for the journey that’s led me to where I am today.

It was during that time that I was thrown into PPC management and cut my teeth with enormous eCommerce accounts. I was fortunate that my boss at the time was proactive in enrolling our team in various mastermind courses and webinars to refine our skills, and I earned several certifications in Google Ads (AdWords at the time).
I also learned from some of the top PPC industry pioneers like Perry Marshall, AJ Wilcox, and Mike Rhodes, to name a few. And later, I developed my own Google Ads training platform and educational materials under the brand Yisoo Training, which has since been sold in collaboration with The Gray Dot Company, where I worked as Director of Content Strategy.
Helping You Better Navigate Google Ads

As an extension of the Google Ads training and coaching services I offered through Yisoo, I started providing freelance PPC services for businesses and institutions seeking a dependable PPC consultant.
Countless times, I would encounter marketing teams struggling to understand PPC advertising and where their money was going. Although Google Ads has simplified since the days of AdWords, it’s still a confusing platform for novice PPC advertisers. In fact, Google Ads has become so fickle and capricious that it’s easy for advertisers to burn through their budget without much to show for it.
This compelled me to help clients cut through the dense ambiguity that most PPC platforms are notorious for. Whether through enlightening audits and consultation programs or full-scale account overhauls and PPC management services, I provide adaptable solutions that help teams better navigate (and profit from) Google PPC advertising.
My PPC Consulting Services at a Glance
A big part of my work as a freelance PPC consultant is to help advertisers understand where their money is going and how they can make the platform work for their business or for their clients.
Some of the primary components of my freelance PPC services include:
- PPC account audits for both Google Ads and Bing Ads.
- Keyword research, audience and trend analysis, and data distillation to help instruct the strategy behind PPC campaigns.
- PPC bid strategy and how to capture the most relevant users based on different keywords and match types.
- Ad copywriting and creative split-testing – whether for new or existing accounts.
- New account build-outs, including strategic campaign and ad group structuring for search and remarketing ads.
- Ongoing PPC management (Google and Bing Ads), account optimization, and ongoing reporting.
Like my SEO copywriting services, with PPC, there is no cookie-cutter template, software automation, or outsourcing work to foreign laborers. If you engage me, I will tailor and execute all services 100% myself.
PPC and SEO Integration

Most marketing consultants I know are specialists in one primary thing, whether that’s PPC, SEO, or social media. My diverse background and experience in all facets of search marketing enable me to offer both PPC and SEO consulting services. It’s how I differentiate myself among other freelance PPC consultants.
After all, seldom do companies that invest in search marketing focus solely on just SEO or just PPC. They might shift their investment, starting with 80% PPC and 20% SEO (to test the ROI of certain keywords before investing in the SEO long game). But that ratio often changes dynamically as search marketing strategies evolve.
There are several benefits of combining PPC and SEO, and I’ve helped numerous companies realize those advantages.
- Keyword validation at speed. PPC data reveals which keywords actually convert before committing budget to a long-term SEO content strategy.
- Greater SERP presence. Owning both paid and organic real estate for a target keyword increases brand visibility and drives higher aggregate CTRs.
- Smarter ad copy informed by organic performance. High-performing SEO title tags and meta descriptions offer proven messaging frameworks that sharpen paid ad creative.
- Bridging the gap during SEO ramp-up. PPC fills the traffic void while organic rankings build, keeping lead flow consistent throughout a campaign’s growth phase.
- Shared audience and intent data. Google Ads audience insights inform organic content targeting, and organic search behavior data sharpens paid bidding decisions.
- Landing page alignment. A consultant fluent in both disciplines ensures that ad destinations are optimized for both Quality Score and organic crawlability.
- Budget intelligence. When a keyword achieves a strong organic rank, paid spend on that term can be strategically pulled back, reallocating budget toward higher-priority targets.
Why Hire a PPC Consultant vs. an Agency
Over the years, I’ve worked for enough agencies to know that they can add considerable bloat to any engagement. Agency rates are typically much higher than those of a freelance PPC consultant, generally averaging between $150 and $300 per hour. Some agencies even charge based on a percentage of ad spend, which is ridiculous, in my opinion. Most PPC freelancers, including myself, charge less than $100 per hour.
For large PPC accounts that demand volume implementation, frequent reporting, and constant collaboration, working with an agency can be beneficial. Perhaps you need to overhaul a Google Ads account with hundreds of campaigns, provide weekly updates to stakeholders, and share detailed monthly reporting updates. A single PPC consultant might not have the bandwidth to execute that ask.
However, if there are in-house resources available within the company, a consultant can be an efficient way to help identify action items and delegate tasks to get the job done. PPC consultants are typically more flexible to customize services to accomodate the immediate and long-term needs of the company. When companies need to pivot or shift their budgets, they’re highly adaptable, without the bureaucratic infrastructure to drastically reallocate resources or to discuss reworking contract agreements.
